Privacy Policy

Shiitake is a task app that suggests one task per day. This page explains what data it stores and why. The short version: your data is used to pick better tasks for you, it is never sold, and you can delete your account, and everything with it, at any time from Settings.
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address, and profile picture from the sign-in provider you choose (Google or Apple). We never see your password.
- Tasks: the tasks you create, including titles, notes, due dates, and completion history.
- Energy check-ins: the optional 1 to 5 energy scores you log (mental, physical, emotional, creative and, if you enable device signals, sleep quality). These exist solely so the task picker can match tasks to your capacity. They are not medical records and are never shared.
- Device signals (optional): if you enable them in Settings, the app reads last night's sleep duration from Apple Health and counts today's calendar hours on your device. Only two derived 1 to 5 scores are stored. Event names, attendees, and raw health samples never leave your phone, and each signal can be turned off any time.
- Location (optional): if you enable weather-aware suggestions, we store an approximate (city-level) latitude and longitude to fetch your local forecast from Open-Meteo. You can use city search instead of GPS, and you can turn this off any time.
- Voice input (optional): if you add tasks by voice, the transcript is processed by Anthropic's Claude API to split it into tasks, then discarded. Audio never leaves your device: speech recognition happens on-device or in your browser.
- Questionnaire answers (optional): your answers to the personalization questions, used only to tune the task picker.
- Usage analytics (anonymous): we count product events like "a task was completed" to understand what helps. These events are anonymous, hold no task content, and are stored in the EU. There is no advertising and no cross-site tracking.
- Notifications (optional): if you enable them, a push token for your device. All notification types are off by default.
What we don't do
- No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties.
- No advertising, no ad tracking, no analytics profiles.
- No reading of your calendar contents or health records. Planned integrations compute a simple daily score on your device and send only that score.
Services we rely on
Your data is stored with Neon (PostgreSQL database) and the app is hosted on Vercel. Task analysis uses Anthropic's Claude API (task text only, no account identity). Weather uses Open-Meteo (coordinates only). Sign-in uses Google or Apple OAuth.
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete account permanently removes your account and all associated data (tasks, check-ins, collections, subscriptions, everything) immediately. There is no retention period and no backup we keep afterwards.
